Art in the Natural World:
Silly Birds, Seashells, and Printmaking & Drawing

June 29 - July 3, 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Ages 6 – 8

Art in the Natural World: Silly Birds, Seashells, and Printmaking and Drawing is designed for young artists who love the outdoors and enjoy hands-on artmaking. Each day begins with time at a nearby park, where students explore the natural environment, observe plants and small creatures, and gather ideas and materials for their week of creative projects.

Back in the classroom, students will be kept busy with multiple hands-on projects including creating an illustrated accordion book using basic drawing techniques, building wind chimes from oyster shells and driftwood while learning about balance and three-dimensional design, and assembling shadow boxes inspired by found objects from their morning excursions in the park. Art history and simple natural science lessons are woven throughout the week, helping students connect what they see outdoors to their artwork.

Designed for curious, creative kids, this workshop supports fine motor skills, confidence, and imagination while giving the students meaningful time outside to explore the natural world.
