Ecoprinting - Backgrounds and Borders with Tannins

Requirement: Prior experience with ecoprinting. This is class will briefly review basic principles of botanical printing. and explore the effects of tannins and iron with leaf printing.

Course description:

Create one-of-kind artful botanical prints using upcycled linens and cottons. Using tannins, natural dyes, local foliage, heat, and water you will experiment with tannins to create interesting backgrounds and leaf design, on fabric and paper.

Learn to

- Collect foliage that will print on cloth and paper

- Prepare cellulose paper and cloth for different artistic effects

- Discover interactions between tannins and iron

- Use tannins and leaves to create interesting outlines and color combinations

- Upcycle linens
