Drawing from Nature

Saturday, August 2; 11am – 2pm

Instructor: Phoebe Deutsch

Slow down and connect with nature through a new drawing workshop with teaching artist Phoebe Deutsch. Participants will learn to sketch different types of flora and play with shapes, textures, and colors as they create their drawings. You will learn to create new compositions that draw on forms found in nature and add your favorite personal touches. Feel free to bring some cuttings of your favorite plants or a photo to class. There will also be a beautiful array of local flora and fauna to choose from. Inspire your creativity through the art of drawing, nature, and community at MarinMOCA.

No experience is necessary. Please note that participants under 18 must be supervised by an adult.

Phoebe Deutsch is a visual artist working primarily in sculpture, painting, and installation. Her work explores the interconnectedness of natural systems. Phoebe’s work reflects a vision of what she calls “alluring speculation”, exploring life in its transitional states. She believes the act of adaptation is the great connector between humanity and the environment. There is still much to learn about the significance of such an intricate network, and this is what inspires her artwork.

She is currently a guest lecturer at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, Northeastern University, and is a long-standing faculty member at The Crucible.
