Tiny Creations: Miniature Objects in Air-Dry Clay

Sunday, January 18; 11am to 1pm

Instructor: Phoebe Deutsch

Get ready to dive into the world of tiny, detailed, and delightful creations in this hands-on air-dry clay workshop. Whether you’re a budding artist or simply love crafting, this session will guide you through the process of creating your very own miniature decorative objects, all from air-dry clay.

You will learn to sculpt and shape small-scale food items, such as mini cakes, donuts, and sushi, or quirky objects such as tiny plants and books. The choice is yours! You will learn step-by-step techniques to help you master the art of detailing.

No previous experience necessary and all tools and resources will be provided.

This experience is recommended for ages 10 and up. Please note that children under 18 must be supervised (taking this class with an adult).

Phoebe Deutsch is a visual artist working primarily in sculpture, painting, and installation. Her work explores the interconnectedness of natural systems and reflects a vision of what she calls “alluring speculation”, exploring life in its transitional states. She believes the act of adaptation is the great connector between humanity and the environment. There is still much to learn about the significance of such an intricate network, and this is what inspires her artwork.

She is currently a guest lecturer at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, Northeastern University, and is a long-standing faculty member at The Crucible.
