Drawing with Wire
Sunday, April 19; 1pm to 4pm
Instructor: Alexandra Vaughan
In this course you will investigate contour drawing in two ways: with pen and with wire. You will explore how the contour line techniques can hone the eye, create focus, and foster presence in the artmaking process.
You will investigate how drawing can become a three-dimensional medium, by creating a free-standing wire sculpture. Using the contour technique, you will incorporate issues such as balance and gravity into your “drawing” practice.
By the end of the class you will have an understanding of the way a line can become synonymous with the eye and the hand, and the ways that lines can exist in space as sculptural objects.
