Linocut Reduction Prints

Saturday, June 13; 10am to 4pm

Instructor: Katya McCulloch

In this intermediate level printmaking workshop you will learn to plan and execute a 2-3 color reductive linocut print from a single piece of linoleum. You will learn various registration methods, focusing on a pin-and-tab technique to ensure accuracy in the overprinting of colors. You will learn about color sequencing, key image, editions, and carving techniques.

In the first half of the workshop you will prepare your registration system, design and strategize an image, and carve and print the first layers of color. In the second half you will refine, carve, and print the key image to produce a small edition of linocut reduction prints.

The instructor will provide a table-top etching press.
