You will create visual poems through a series of surrealist games and linguistic strategies in this introductory collage and poetry course. You will generate new meanings from found images and text by incorporating elements of chance, play, and surprise while exploring a variety of art-making materials, including acrylic paint, pastels, ink, and paper. You will dive into the fantastical through automatic drawing and writing techniques as well as fragmentation, and will have the opportunity to build new worlds, craft surprising stories, and unlock hidden dimensions.
Hannah Möller seeks to invoke creative exploration through material agency, chance, play, and failure. She strives to inspire students to find inspiration in observing their ‘everyday’ experiences and feel vitality in their artistic practice through the use of easily accessible materials and processes, making the ordinary extraordinary. All ages and levels of experience are welcome.
Hannah Möller focuses on the expanded field of painting. In constant search for the impossible view, her art-making apparatus consists of painting, drawing, sculpture, and creative writing. She is transfixed by the non-linear aspects of memory, the malleability of poetry, and the whimsy of fiction. She holds a M.F.A. in Visual Arts from The University of British Columbia on the unceded territory of xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. She holds a B.F.A. (cum laude) in Painting and Drawing from The California College of the Arts, San Francisco, CA. She taught classes while completing her M.F.A. at the University of British Columbia and is completing an educational fellowship at the San Francisco-based arts non-profit

Fees are due at the time of registration. You may cancel up to one week prior to the start of the class and the registration fee, less $25 for processing, will be refunded to you. Should you cancel less than one week before a class/workshop begins you will not receive a refund of any portion of the registration fee.
