In this workshop you will create a collage from a haiku perspective, utilizing flax and other natural materials. Haiku, a Japanese poem traditionally evoking images of the natural world is interpreted beautifully in this sensitive technique. You will create a narrative collage with natural materials while learning how to transform flax roving into beautifully textured paper. You will explore various ways of adding inclusions and of embellishing surfaces with mark-making using sumi ink and indigo dye, and stitching.
